While single-cell updates at AGBT 2026 were relatively quiet, spatial biology felt louder and more structural.

Many announcements were delivered as integrated platforms combining instruments, chemistry, and software into a single ecosystem. Several companies also emphasized translation-adjacent features, such as formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue compatibility, workflow standardization, and scaling across large cohorts.

This suggests that spatial biology is moving from small-scale experiments toward production-scale datasets designed for translational research and AI-driven discovery.
